Ibacus Harp Teachers' Conference

Friday 13 March 2020, 11.30am until Sunday 15 March, 4.30pm

We are delighted to be holding a Harp Teachers’ Conference this year at Low Farm in Suffolk, moderated by Charlotte Seale and Imogen Barford.

Take a weekend out to exchange ideas, refresh your teaching practice and get new inspiration in beautiful surroundings – and of course eat delicious home-cooked food.

Suggested Topics for Discussion

The plan for the weekend will be finalised after we have received participants’ own suggestions.

  • Basic Technique

  • Sound

  • Practice: Motivation and How to Practise

  • How to Memorise

  • Teaching Keys (pedal and lever)

  • Structure of the Body and Use of Language in Teaching Movement

  • Learning to Read Music & Sight-reading

  • Preparing for Performance

  • How to Choose Repertoire

  • The First Lesson

  • Correcting Faulty Technique

Each session will explore a different subject.

Participants are invited to contribute their own expertise and experience, in an interactive environment, where teachers learn from each other.

There will be a ‘guinea-pig’ pupil for hands-on demonstration.

We want you to feel comfortable bringing your whole self to the Ibacus Harp Course, so diversity is an integral part of our culture. We create an inclusive atmosphere where all forms of diversity are welcomed and truly valued.
